Policies & Procedures
Art In Motion provides an opportunity for anyone to receive instruction in different styles of dance and fitness. Our classes enhance student's physical coordination, cardiovascular conditioning, balance, flexibility and creativity. Our goal is to give participants the wisdom to understand, appreciate, and facilitate the art of motion. To better serve you, please review the following information.
Class Information and Rules:
Because dance is active and very physical, instructors like to have students dressed in proper dance clothing with appropriate shoes and their hair pulled back. Certain classes will have clothing requirements. If there are any injuries or other ailments that may affect movement, please inform the instructor. No gum, food or drink is allowed during class time. On hot days, we do take water breaks but it is preferred that students do not have water bottles in class. Please make sure you or your child is hydrated and does what is necessary before class starts. Be prompt when picking up students, instructor's busy schedule may prohibit them from staying after class.
Parents are not allowed inside the classroom unless there is a scheduled parent observation or if a facility has more than one activity scheduled in the space. If parents are in the same space during class time, it is asked that they remain quiet and respectful. Please be considerate, turn off cell phones, pagers and any other noise making devices.
Tuition fees run from $45-$55 depending on the facility and class. Art In Motion offers a session payment plan and a monthly payment plan depending on which facility you attend. If available at your facility, session plans allow you to pay in full and receive a discount. Session payment plans usually run from August-December and then from January-June. There is a $20 annual registration fee for all students and if a student chooses to take a month or two off, there is a $10 reinstatement fee for students who are absent for a month or more of classes during a session.
Tuition is due the first week of the month and is a monthly tuition payment. There are no pro-rated months due to holidays or bad weather closures. We accept checks, credit cards and cash payable to Art in Motion Reno LLC. There is a $3 fee for all credit card payments.
Our affordable Family Plan gives siblings a discount for dancers who take two or three classes a month within a family. Discounts also apply for individual dancers who take four or more classes a month. One fixed $200 price is offered per dancer five or more classes a month.
Drop In Fee:
If a student would like to try a class, there is a first-time-only $15 drop in fee. Drop in fees can be applied to tuition if joining after the trial class.
Recitals/Accumulative Tuition Plan:
Students must be registered for classes by February/September to participate in Holiday/Spring Recital. Costume permission slips, payments and recital information will be handed out in February/September. All balances must be current and up to date the month before any recital, including tuition, costume and recital fees. Students are required to attend any extra rehearsal and/or a mandatory dress rehearsal before a recital or they cannot participate in the show. We offer a tuition and costume payment plan for your convenience. To help manage costume fees for Spring and Holiday recitals, we offer an accumulative plan that will include costume fees with tuition. We can spread your payments over 3 months beginning in February/September. Please ask our staff about your options.
Students can make-up missed classes by attending another class within their age group. Classes can only be made up within the month the class was missed. (Make-up classes can not be accumulative and there are no tuition deductions.) Please check to make sure the class you choose isn't full prior to coming.
Return Check Policy:
All returned checks will require that all payments of any kind (including tuition costume fees and recital fees) be made in either cash or credit card from the time the check is returned. There is a $35 service charge for all returned checks.
There are no refunds given for monthly tuition, registration fees, costumes and recital fees. No refund or deduction is given due to illness, holidays, or closings due to weather conditions. If for any reason a class is cancelled due to an instructor’s absence, a makeup class will be scheduled. If a student cannot makeup in the scheduled makeup class, they can attend any class in the schedule to make up the missed class within their age group. At the end of a session, any credits must have been applied or will be forfeited.
Art In Motion follows Washoe County School closures during inclement weather. If your school is closed, then dance is canceled unless notified otherwise. No refunds or credits are given due to bad weather. We will inform you through email and on our webpage calendar if a cancellation occurs, especially if school has ended and the weather turns bad and for our Saturday classes. Classes missed can be made up by attending another class within their age group. Please see missed classes for more information.
